Help with the KB menu interface

The menu interface for the Knowledge Base lists topics that are important to computing at Indiana University and questions that are frequently asked at the UITS Support Center. From the list, select the topic that is most closely related to your question. You will then see lists of questions within each topic, grouped by subtopic. Each of these questions is a document in the Knowledge Base. Look for your question or one closely related to it. If your question doesn't appear on this list, pick another that closely matches it.

At the bottom of each Knowledge Base document are links to other relevant documents, many of which are not included in the menus. If you still can't find your question, you can try searching the whole Knowledge Base. At the top of each document is a search box where you can enter a few important words from your question. For example, if you entered webmail quota in the search box, you would receive a list of all the documents in the Knowledge Base related to quotas on IU Webmail.

The menu interface to the Knowledge Base lists only the introductory texts about each topic and those questions that users ask most frequently. Of the more than 14,000 questions and answers currently in the Knowledge Base, the menu interface lists only about 1,400. You can access all 14,000+ documents, however, by doing a search.

For help with searching the Knowledge Base, see Knowledge Base search help.
