At IU, how can I access departmental servers from the STCs?

Note: UITS does not maintain departmental servers. For specific information about their content and services, contact the appropriate department.

To connect to an Indiana University departmental server from the IU Student Technology Centers (STCs):

Mac OS X

See In Mac OS X, how do I connect to network servers or another computer on the network?

Windows

  1. On the desktop, double-click My Network Places, and then Entire Network.

  2. From the list in the left of the Entire Network window, click Search for computers, and type the name of the departmental server you're trying to locate.

    Alternatively, click entire contents. Double-click Microsoft Windows Network.

  3. Select the desired server or directory (domain) to find the server.

  4. Double-click the server icon; if required, enter the username and password provided by the owner of the departmental server.

  5. Once logged into the server, right-click the desired directory, and then select Map Network Drive.
