What is FootPrints?
FootPrints is a web-based service desk application from Numara Software used to record and track support and customer service requests in departments across Indiana University. The UITS implementation of Footprints includes projects, or queues, for over 50 separate units, services, and departments. Each project can be configured for specific workflows and processes. Projects may accept issues via email, web form, or direct entry. Agents and project administrators can open, edit, and close issues, send email, and process basic searches and reports on those issues.FootPrints is installed on virtual machines in the Intelligent Infrastructure environment, and is compatible with all major browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.
To learn more about FootPrints, or to find out if a FootPrints project is appropriate for use in your department at IU, see the Implementation and usage principles (PDF format) for FootPrints at IU, or contact FootPrints Help.
There is currently no charge for a department to obtain a project. External (non-IU) entities and student organizations are not eligible to use the application for managing information for their organization.
Do not store sensitive data (i.e., Social Security numbers, passwords, credit card numbers, and HIPAA-protected information) in FootPrints.
Each project must have a project owner who is ultimately responsible for management and oversight, content of issues, and agent access. Additionally, project workflow and configurations are set up by one or two project administrators. The project administrator is responsible for adding and removing agent access to the project. Project administrators must complete training before a project is issued to a department.
