In the IU Podcast Portal or Oncourse CL, why is my podcast not playing in my browser?

Although the Indiana University Podcast Portal and Oncourse CL use the standard RSS 2.0 feed structure, the feeds are not intended to be consumed directly in a web browser. Instead, podcast RSS feeds are intended for use by your podcatcher application. The feeds are slightly different for podcasts than for a normal news RSS feed, and will not be rendered correctly in a browser window.

Unlike videos that play in a browser (e.g., YouTube videos), which are delivered using a method called progressive downloading, podcasting uses a download-based method for delivering audio and video files. As you subscribe to podcasts in your podcatcher, it automatically downloads episodes for you in the background. This allows unattended downloads, so your content can be ready and waiting for you to consume at a later time.
