Roaming rules for TeraGrid resources at NCAR, ORNL, and PSC

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

If you have a TeraGrid allocation, request roaming permission on Frost by sending email to  help@teragrid.org , specifying your intentions. Staff at NCAR will evaluate your request; if it is approved, roaming access will be enabled.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)

ORNL serves all roaming use. All TeraGrid users with a roaming allocation have a valid account created and available on the NSTG cluster. For system access details, see the System Access: Logging in page.

Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC)

  • Startup/Education allocations: By default, roaming access is given to Pople. PSC Allocations sends email to the PI asking if he or she wishes to also try Big Ben. Roaming access is enabled if PIs confirm that they do.

  • Research allocations: If a PI receives an allocation for TeraGrid-wide roaming, default access to both Pople and Big Ben is enabled.

Exception: If a project also has a specific allocation on a PSC platform, roaming access is not enabled while the specific allocation balance is positive.
