When requesting Oncourse CL assistance, what information should I provide?

When you request Oncourse CL assistance, it is important to provide as much of the following information as you can:

  • Include the steps you took before encountering your problem.

  • Provide the name of the tool you were using.

  • Include the name of the Oncourse CL server to which you are connected. You can find the server name on the very bottom of the Oncourse CL screen; the name should be the letters "esappo" followed by two numbers (e.g., esappo02).

  • Provide the site ID for the site in which you are working. You can find the site ID by looking at the site's URL in your browser's address bar. In the URL, the site ID is the long string of letters and numbers that comes after site, for example: https://oncourse.iu.edu/portal/site/c9de376e-8c3f-42c7-8006-830u8127fbbq
  • If you're not in a Student Technology Center (STC) or Residential Technology Center (RTC), provide the name of the operating system, including any service packs, that your computer is running.

  • Provide the name and version of the browser you're using.

  • Describe your networking environment (e.g., STC or RTC, Ethernet connection, modem connection, or off-campus via VPN).

Providing the above information helps the Oncourse CL team to quickly find a solution to your problem, and to identify problems that may affect others.
