In the IUIE, how do I secure reports?

Note: This information is for Data Managers using the IUIE.

There are three distinct ways to secure reports in the IUIE. Two methods involve using user groups to restrict access, and one method uses row-level security:

• Object-level user groups are assigned to reports that are restricted at the object (or table) level only. Object-level user groups usually have Oracle database role counterparts and are used to secure tables and views. They can also be assigned to other reports that don't have an underlying database object, such as a frozen file, link report, or pre-defined query (PDQ).
  
  
• Restricted row-level (RRL) user groups are also object-level but are assigned to report objects that require both object-level and row-level security. RRL is a label used to easily identify reports that require a combination of user groups and row-level values to secure them. • Row-level security is a third way to control data. Reports can be secured at the row level only, or as the complement to restricted row-level report objects. When row-secured values are assigned to report objects, they determine the row-level privileges that will need to be assigned to individual users to restrict access to data.
