Using Oncourse Gradebook, how do I view details for a Gradebook item?

Note: To complete these procedures, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, follow the directions in Participant roles. To view a list of permissions associated with a given role, see Permissions, roles, and tools. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions and roles: Overview.

In Gradebook, to see the details for a particular item:

  1. If you're not already in the tool, from the menubar, click Gradebook. If you're in Gradebook but not at the Gradebook items list, near the top, click Gradebook Items.

  2. From the list of Gradebook items, click the title of the item.

On the resulting Gradebook Item Summary page, you will see the maximum points possible ("Points"), if applicable. For points and percentage gradebooks, you will see the class average score ("Class average for scores entered"); for non-calculating gradebooks, you will not see an average.

Other information, and options to edit scores and settings, are also available on this page.

Note: Letter grades in Gradebook are referred to as non-calculating grades. Non-calculating grades may be any string of text up to eight characters. If you want your grades calculated automatically, you must enter them as either points or percentages. See Changing the grade entry, type, and scale in Gradebook.
