ARCHIVED: Why do Microsoft Desktop eLearning course exercises fail to load, and how do I fix it?

Microsoft Desktop eLearning (MELL) courses on Microsoft Office 2003 play inside Internet Explorer. If you try to play these course exercises in the version of Internet Explorer installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2, a window with a "loading" message and clock animation will appear, but the exercise will never load.

To fix this problem, download Microsoft's MELL viewer patch; see Microsoft support article 883083.

Search Microsoft Help and Support.

After downloading and installing the MELL viewer patch:

  1. Visit Flash Player Help.

  2. From the Edit locations... menu, click Add location... .

  3. In the "Trust this location:" field, enter  C:\program files\MELL\ . Click Confirm.

If the above solution does not work, you can also refer to Microsoft support article 917583.

Search Microsoft Help and Support.
