In Windows, how can I add an alternate phone number to an existing dial-up connection?
Not all versions of Windows allow alternate numbers for a single connection. Windows NT 3.51 and below, 98, and Me do not accommodate alternate numbers.
An alternate number is available for the IUB modem pool; however, there is no alternate number for the IUPUI pool.
To add an alternate number to an existing connection, follow the appropriate steps below:
Windows XP
- From the
Startmenu, selectSettings, thenNetwork and Internet Connections.Note: If this doesn't match what you see, refer to About navigation settings in Windows.
- If you do not see a list of connections, click

- Click
Properties, or if you see a list of connections, right-click your connection and chooseProperties. Then clickAlternates. - Click
