What does it mean if I receive a message from Microsoft Forefront telling me that I have an ExceedinglyNested virus?
ExceedinglyNested is not an actual virus. Rather, it is a term that Microsoft Forefront uses to flag content in email messages that may be virus-like, but which doesn't directly match any known viruses. The flagged content may be fragments of a virus, or an attachment which resembles a virus, but is not actually a complete known virus.
If you receive this message, you should make sure that you have updated your virus patterns and scanned your computer for virus infections. For more information, see the appropriate documents below:
- For Symantec virus protection software, what are my options for updating the virus definitions?
- In Symantec/Norton AntiVirus for Windows, how do I schedule automatic LiveUpdates and virus scans?
