ARCHIVED: For Polycom's PVX software, what are the minimum system requirements?
For desktop videoconferencing at Indiana University, UITS recommends using Polycom's PVX software. Currently, the minimum requirements for using PVX are:
- USB port
- Windows XP
- P4 2.2 GHz and above
- 256 MB RAM
- 16 MB video memory
- 60 MB available hard disk space
- Broadband network connection (384 Kbps upload and download speed)
- DirectX 9.0b, Media Player 9.0
- USB web camera
- Headphones, headset, or speakers
- Microphone (preferably built into the web camera or headset)
Note: Some users have compatibility issues with running PVX 8.0.4 in Windows XP. Video Conferencing Support recommends that if you have trouble with 8.0.4, you try 8.0.0.
