What is an IU username and how do I get one?
At Indiana University, a username is the name with which you log into your accounts, and also access other services on the IU network. Your username is relative to your status at IU; for current students, faculty, and staff, it is assigned automatically based on your last name, first name, and possibly middle name.
Your IU username will be the part of your IU email address
before the @ (at symbol), for example,
this_is_my_username@indiana.edu . For more
information, see How do I get my first computing accounts at IU?
As an IU applicant or former student, you will not receive an IU email address, but you can create a new or reinstate an old IU username, which will allow you to check your application status, pay bills, or view your transcript online. For more information, see At IU, how do applicants obtain an IU computing account?
Under some circumstances, people not regularly associated with IU may be eligible for Guest accounts. In this case, your username is the email address you gave when signing up for the account. For more information, see At IU, what computing accounts are available to people who are not students, faculty, or staff?
If you have forgotten your password, see At IU, if I forget my passphrase on a UITS shared central system, what should I do?
