Where can IU departments get help setting up a firewall or intrusion detection products?

A wide variety of firewall and intrusion detection products is available. Sorting through them all and finding one that will work in a particular environment is a daunting task. In addition, the installation of a firewall requires a coordinated effort between the department, the University Information Security Office (UISO), and the central campus computing center's networking group.

One of the UISO's primary tasks over the coming months is to evaluate the various firewall and intrusion detection products, and attempt to map out a product strategy for the university. In the meantime, you can consult with the UISO to determine the best approach for your department. Please contact the UISO if you would like to arrange a meeting to discuss this further.
