Which USB Ethernet cards are compatible with the IU networks?
Currently the choices for a USB network interface card (NIC) are somewhat limited. UITS has not yet tested enough USB NICs on the Indiana University networks to make a recommendation. Because UITS recommends 3COM, SMC, and Intel for other products, USB NICs from these companies are a reasonable choice to try on the IU networks. When purchasing a NIC, look for a minimum speed of 10BASE-T; NICs that are 10/100BASE-T or 10/100/1000BASE-T are also compatible with the IU networks.
