In Windows 2000, how can I add my computer to the ADS Domain?
To add your Windows 2000 computer to Indiana University's ADS Domain, follow these steps:
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the
Startmenu, selectSettings, thenControl Panel. Double-click theSystemicon.
- Click the
Network Identificationtab, then click thePropertiesbutton.
- At the bottom of the
Identification Changesdialog box, in the "Member of" section, click the button markedDomain. In the text box next to theDomainbutton, typeads.iu.edu, then clickOK.
- A box should appear asking for your username and password. When
you enter your username, prefix it with
ads\. For example, if your username weredracula, you would type: ads\dracula - Enter your password, then click
OK.
- Click
OKagain. A message will appear to warn you that you must restart the computer to make the changes active. Keep clickingOKuntil you reach a message offering to reboot the system for you. ClickYesto do so.
When your computer restarts, it should be a member of the ADS Domain. If you entered an incorrect username or password, or if you don't have permission to access the domain you specified, an error message will appear.
