ARCHIVED: Using Windows, how do I create Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files?
To create .eps files from any Windows application, you
must first install a PostScript printer driver:
- From the
Startmenu, selectSettings, and thenPrinters.
- Double-click the
Add Printericon. The Add Printer wizard will appear. ClickNext.
- Choose
Local Printerand clickNext.
- When the list of printer brands and models is displayed, select a
color PostScript printer (e.g.,
HP Color LaserJet 5/5M PS). ClickNext.
- From the list of ports, choose
FILE:. ClickNext.
- In the next screen, when asked whether you wish this to be the
default printer, select
No. ClickNext.
- Do not print a test page. Click
Finish.
- Once the printer icon has been created, you should give it a new
name (e.g.,
EPS printer). Right-click the icon, and chooseRename.
- Right-click the icon and choose
Properties.
- Select
PostScript. Under "PostScript Options", chooseEncapsulated PostScript.
Whenever you wish to create an .eps file, simply open the
document in the appropriate application. Go to the File menu,
select Print... , and then choose the EPS
printer. You'll be prompted for a filename for the .eps
file, and you can choose the folder in which it will be created.
