In Windows, how do I find out how much memory (RAM) I have?

To check the amount of RAM you have in Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP, follow the steps below:

  1. In Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, or XP, from the desktop or the Start menu, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.

Alternatively, double-click My Computer. Double-click the Control Panel folder, and then double-click the System icon.

  2. Click the General tab. At the bottom of the list, you will see how much RAM your computer has. In Windows 95, 98, or Me, if you do not see the RAM under the General tab, you should be able to find it under the Performance tab, in the "Status" area.
