In Microsoft Word, after making changes to my Word document, how do I update the table of contents?
In Windows
- Click anywhere inside the table of contents to select it, and then
press
F9.
- In the dialog box that opens, select the
Update entire tableradio button, and clickOK.
In Mac OS or Mac OS X

Ctrl-click to the left of the table of contents, and from the contextual menu, selectUpdate Field.
- In the dialog box that opens, select the
Update entire tableradio button, and clickOK.
