In Microsoft Outlook 2002 and earlier for Windows, when making changes to the body of replies, how do I keep Outlook from inserting my name?
By default, when you reply to email messages in plain text format, Outlook marks your additions to the text that you are quoting by inserting your name in square brackets. To turn off this feature:
- In Outlook, from the
Toolsmenu, selectOptions....
- In Outlook 98, 2000, and 2002, from the
Preferencestab, selectE-mail Options.... In Outlook 97, select theReadingtab.
- Deselect
Mark my comments with:.You can also set desired options on how to format replies under "When replying to a message" and how to format forwarded messages under "When forwarding a message". If you select
Prefix each line of the original message, you can select the character to use in thePrefix each line withbox; a>(greater-than sign) is the default. - To finish, click
OK.
