Is Java supported on IU's web servers?

Java Run Time Environment (RTE) version 1.6.0 is available on Webserve, Indiana University's central web server. Tomcat and JavaServer Pages (JSP) are not available.

Although UITS does not restrict the delivery of Java applets from the IU web servers (Webserve and Mypage), the servers do not provide a Java development environment. The web server delivers only Java byte code; the browser or client actually executes the applet.

The Java Development Kit is installed in all IU Bloomington Student Technology Centers (STCs). You can develop applets on any STC workstation and then move them to a web server.
