For Windows, are there any freely available versions of TeX or LaTeX?

You can obtain various versions of TeX for different platforms from the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network (CTAN) at:

http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/systems/

You can find versions for DOS and Windows at any of these sites:

http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/systems/msdos/ http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/systems/win32/ http://www.ams.org/tex/public-domain-tex.html

MikTeX (a version of TeX) is installed as departmentally supported software in all of the UITS Windows Student Technology Centers (STCs). You can find information about using TeX in Windows at Indiana University Bloomington at:

http://www.math.indiana.edu/resources/software/tex/miktex.html
